Joseph Umali Fernandez is a sculptor and performance artist based
in Los Angeles. He studies art at various community colleges from
San Diego to Torrance as he pursues a degree. He was a diesel
mechanic in the U.S. Navy for 8 years and believes it prepared
him for his career
as an artist both physically and spiritually. He has
shown and performed at MOCA, ViCA, Barnsdall Art Park, Artslave
Gallery, Trunk Gallery and many others in LA, Long Beach, Torrance,
and Ventura. He has also shown at Rubbish Gallery, Cottonwood
Center for the Arts,
and Fine Arts Center in Colorado Springs. He
can be found daily winding his way through LA and through his
various sculptures which have become his unique style. He will be
creating several sculpture during Ojai Art Festival's opening weekend November 9 and 10 at Kava, 238 E Ojai Ave.
